UPDATE: Test results show satisfactory after teens swim in city's drinking water

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — The City of Snohomish said water from its North Zone Water Reservoir has maintained a high level of water quality and adequate disinfection.

This comes after police said five teenage boys broke into the water tower and went swimming in the drinking water.

A dive team inspected and cleaned the water tower on Friday and found no foreign objects during the process, officials said.

Officials said no further scheduled updates will be planned until the reservoir's disinfection and follow up sampling is completed.

The reservoir was isolated from the rest of the water distribution system, and the disinfection process is expected to begin Tuesday.

It was Thursday when deputies notified the city about a break-in that took place at the water tower after someone sent police video the boys took of themselves climbing up the tower and then swimming in the water supply.

The video was posted on social media. In it, only one of the boys was seen swimming in the water, but Snohomish police said they assume others took a swim.

Those boys were identified, and charges will be filed, but investigators said who will be charged and what the charges will be, have not been determined yet.

The city said it is working with the Washington State Department of Health of Drinking Water to review the entire situation.
